The Service Exchange Protocol (SXP) modernises PROFINET from version 2.5 onwards through secure, flexible and scalable communication across Layers 2 and 3 (with and without security) and forms the technical basis for future industrial, edge, cloud and security applications, whilst maintaining backwards compatibility. Benefit: Migration to PROFINET 2.5 can be carried out in stages without disrupting existing installations.
